What you are witnessing here is the culmination of a vision, coupled with years of hard work, and dedication. In June of 2005, thanks to the support of the City and its uniformed services, New York was awarded the bid to host the 2011 World Police & Fire Games. Our dedication to produce the most memorable games ever, has since been a Herculean task, and this effort has begun to pay off. Regarding our sports, we are in the process of reviewing and finalizing venue sites, and have begun to seek out sports managers and coordinators. Our marketing campaign to bring awareness to the games has also continued with a poster program to highlight our event, and a plaque program aimed at businesses in and around New York City. Our annual benefit dinners have been well attended and honorees have included community leaders, sports figures and well known politicians. We have signed Empire Blue Cross/Blue Shield as our first Bronze medal sponsor, and are negotiating with numerous other vendors to sign a presenting sponsor.
We are very excited to be a part of the World Police & Fire Games family, and have pledged our full support to British Columbia in their effort to produce a spectacular event in July of 2009. Your participation as a competitor, volunteer or spectator is what makes these games great. We ask that you continue to spread the word that the games are coming, and join us as we help “Celebrate Humanity through Sport.”
